Gravette
Sound Portraits – Creation Residency

Recording, writing and production of sound portraits during a creation residency in Marmande (2021–2022).

This documentary project adopts an immersive approach inspired by Yann Paranthoën and Raymond Depardon. Through a series of sound portraits, it gives voice to the residents of the La Gravette neighbourhood, a territory shaped by its social history and ongoing urban transformations.

Over several months, voices, testimonies and everyday soundscapes were recorded: stairwells of social housing blocks, playgrounds, schools and streets at dusk. Between individual narratives and collective memory, the project offers a sensitive and nuanced portrait of a neighbourhood in constant transition.

The project culminated in an immersive exhibition at the Tek’Art Festival 2022 in Marmande, where visitors experienced the sound portraits in a dedicated listening space. This presentation extended the reflection on the identity and memory of the neighbourhood through the voices and sounds that shape its soul.
